Happy New Year!

We have the edits back from Poorna and going through them one by one. One of the most valuable parts of the editing process is getting fresh eyes on the game, and Poorna is helping move sections around and defining terms that will help brand-new players quickly get a handle on the game.

There will be a little back-and-forth after the first round of edits are addressed, and then it's off to the graphic designer for layout!

Quick update! Though some playtesting is ongoing, the beta playtesting phase for Playing God has wrapped up. Playtesting was a valuable experience and fine-tuned virtually every part of the game. Most of them were small changes, but far and away the biggest one was how Worshipers was abstracted to the Devotion system. That made for faster gameplay with less number juggling. As a result, the most recent playtest went much smoother and the players could focus more on the roleplaying and story aspects.
 
All art pieces are complete, all game sheets are finished, and as of a few days ago, the entire game was sent to the editor. Unfortunately, the region where the editor lives has recently been hit by a natural disaster, so she's taking the time she needs to get back to normal life before starting in earnest. Once editing is wrapped up, it's off to layout, then to the printer!

I got back in touch with our artist StickyHunter and commissioned more art from her. I think we'll get away with almost doubling our initial art budget, so look forward to that!

New Hires

Please welcome Luna Norwood and Poorna Mazumdar to the team! Luna is our graphic designer doing layout, and Poorna is our editor. They're both very skilled and accomplished, and we're so excited to have them involved! 

Playtesting

Beta playtesting is ongoing and has already been very valuable. I've got to hand it to playtesters for running the game through the gauntlet and helping ensure that it not only works but that it's more agile and fun.

Wow, what a great campaign this has been!

We got off to a good start, we funded early, and we hit an achievement soon after. We're happy to say that we're definitely commissioning more art, not to mention the original deity and worlds sheets.

This project has been a year in the making but its roots began years and years ago. If you're like us, you still remember sitting down to read stories of Norse and Greek heroes and gods when you were a kid and then learning more about other pantheons as you grew and got unfettered access to library books, art history lessons, and more. It seemed only natural when you got into fantasy RPG settings to invent your own mythological beings. Now it's not just prep. It's another facet of gaming!

Thank you to all you backers! For small, indie creators like us, we literally couldn't do this without your support! Now let's see how much farther we can go!
